Papa Bear Childcare in Miranda, NSW, is one of the newer members of the Street Library Community.
Their Gawura Street Library gets its name from the Dharawal word meaning ‘whale’, and its artwork – created by Aboriginal Elder Aunty Deanna – tells the story of the Dharawal, a saltwater people surrounded by the whale totem, fish and turtles in the bay.
The Gawura Street Library is a place where children and families can share books by borrowing and replacing to help spread the love of literature.
Welcome Papa Bear and congratulations on your beautiful Gawura Street Library!
The Gawura Street Library is an example of Street Library Australia’s Two Story House. It comes with a free Street Library plaque and is available for purchase from our online store.
