The library was made by two members of the Friends of Black Cockatoo reserves bushcare group. It is made from recycled materials and is set in 32 hectares of bushland in the hills outside Perth. There is a resting bench along one of the walking tracks that traverses the reserve and we thought that a library may be welcomed to add to the enjoyment of sitting amongst the tall trees.
The street library is maintained by the members of the Friends of the Black Cockatoo reserves. The Friends group meet regularly once a week to have a chat, swap ideas, weed, plant and observe the changes in the flora, fauna habitat, and fungi with the changing of the seasons. It is a tranquil place to walk, ride a horse or bicycle, spot birds and bats or read a book.
