“You can find magic wherever you look. Sit back and relax, all you need is a book.” – Dr Seuss
We are SO excited about our very own Street Library!
A huge thank you to the Hervey Bay Men’s Shed for their skilled workmanship in creating our Street Library and to the Rotary Club of Hervey Bay Sunrise for their generous donation of the Street Library to our Kindy and our local community! Lloyd and Warren from the Rotary Club installed our library and showed our children how it works, and the children were very excited to take their first book home! We are also so blessed to have had our Street Library transformed into a beautiful work of art by the incredibly talented Zali Phillips from Urangan State High School.
Street Libraries are a beautiful home for books, planted in your front yard. They are accessible from the street and are an invitation to share the joys of reading with your neighbours.
Street Libraries are a window into the mind of a community; books come and go; no-one needs to check them in or out. People can simply reach in and take what interests them; when they are done, they can return them to the Street Library, or pass them on to friends. If anyone has a book or two that they think others would enjoy, they can just pop it into any Street Library they happen to be walking past. They are a symbol of trust and hope – a tiny vestibule of literary happiness.
Our Street Library is another great way for our Kindy to connect with our local community, and promotes literacy, learning and a love of books! Donations of books are always greatly appreciated.
