Coopernook Community Street Library

Corner Macquarie St & George Gibson Drive

This small community welcomes many travellers traversing the Pacific Highway. It has a selection of books for all ages and interests; regularly maintained by staff and students of the local ~Public School.

After a 10 year old Coopernook School student wrote a compelling grant application we were lucky enough to be sponsored for this library. This young man- Kit, loves literacy & wanted to share that passion with our local community. Surveying the students he discovered the majority of parents and grandparents were never seen by their children to be reading for pleasure. Approaching the Principal of Coopernook School he asked “How can i help fix this, to get kids to want to read -we need to see our adults reading”.
The rest as they say is history.
Our school learning mantra-
We Ask; We Seek; We Learn
Our mission statement for this Street Library
-May the sharing of books here distribute love, knowledge and skills equitably to all who visit.
