Eastwood Girl Guides were delighted to be have been awarded a Street Library from the City of Ryde in 2020. Decorating our street library was a very collaborative process with each of our three units of girls aged 6 to 18 being allocated responsibility for a section of the street library. Following a brainstorming of ideas, the girls drew, painted and glued pictures of how they had fun at Girl Guides and also of their favourite book characters.
The front door of the street library incorporates the insightful quote from Dr Seuss:
“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more than you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
Through our street library, we aim to further encourage people in the local area to enjoy reading and also build relationships with our local community and awareness of Girl Guides. Our Girl Guide members will ensure the library is loved and kept well stocked with child friendly books. Please say hello to us in the hall when you come by to share a book.
