Higgins Street Library

8 Wearing Street, Higgins, ACT, Australia

Created in memory of our baby girls, Gracie & Tilly. We are so happy to bring you Canberra's latest library, the HIGGINS STREET LIBRARY. Something for everyone, for the kids and the "big kids" too. We look forward to having you visit.

I have heard about the libraries over the past few years but only just saw my first Street Library recently in Melbourne. I had no idea about any in Canberra until I saw an ABC News article not long later.
That same day, I went home to my husband and asked “do you think you can build one of these?” …. And of course he could. And so we began our Street Library journey.
Our library has also been created in memory of our two daughters, Grace (stillborn in June 2016) and Matilda (stillborn in December 2017). We had longed for our precious baby girls and dreamt of one day reading them stories and growing up surrounded by books of all kinds. Sadly we will never get to do that, so I thought it was one way we could still do something special in their memory. As well as giving back to the Canberra community who have helped us through such tough times of loss and grief.
We have something for everyone – kids books, teenager books, adult books, fiction, non-fiction. We look forward to having your visit our HIGGINS STREET LIBRARY (Canberra ACT).
