With the hope of creating an impact by encouraging reading culture, we started a small, free street library in front of my house. There is a primary school on the same street only a few hundred meters away, so seeing young children walking past our house on a daily basis gave me the idea of sharing books.
One of the key purposes for our street library is to enhance the literacy rate in our low socioeconomic status area, starting at grassroots level, by encouraging everyone in the community to read more books. We want to provide them easy, affordable and availability access of book materials round the clock.
