This wonderful Street Library is called one fish blue fish, books at 55. Alan the Street Librarian shares his story with us.

Our street is a short distance from The Kingsford Smith school serving years K- 10. Accordingly, we have a range of ages walking past our Street Library. The foot traffic includes a lot of Mum’s and Dad’s walking the kids before dinner and also a lot of retired persons throughout the day. We also get a lot of people walking their dogs.

We have a number of regulars including a Mum pushing a pram and walking her son to and from school each. Her son always stops and has a browse and they also leave books.

Recently, over the Xmas and new year period, we were on holidays and were not able to keep the Street Library full. On returning we were pleasantly surprised to find the Street Library well stocked, it has almost become almost self-sustainable. The neighbourhood has really embraced the idea.  The local neighbourhood Facebook has even posted a photo of the Street Library and its members are regular visitors.
