Thanks to the community-minded folks at Mornington Peninsula Shire Council, Street Library Australia has six FREE Street Libraries for budding Street Librarians who live within the LGA.
There are two models available (in pre-made and kit form). These tiny vestibules of literary happiness come to you undecorated. You will need to paint, weatherproof, install and register your Street Library – and love it!
The program is open to anyone in the Mornington Peninsula area: individuals, organisations, schools and businesses. We’re on the hunt for people dedicated to fostering community spirit who have a love of reading and books. We ask that the Street Libraries be installed on property you control. This can be privately-owned land or school grounds. Applications for Street Libraries on public land will not be considered.
The program will remain open until the Street Libraries are allocated so be sure to submit your application soon. Applications from writers, artists, low income or unwaged individuals or volunteers representing Mornington Peninsula not-for-profits (including schools and preschools) will be looked at particularly favourably.
To submit your application please complete our online application and be sure to include your address.
Good Luck!
